Nellore Parliament Member Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy on Saturday strongly refuted allegations made by YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding a Rs 50,000 cheque he had given to a man named Appanna from Srikakulam, stating that the assistance was provided purely out of humanitarian concern as the recipient’s family was in dire financial distress.

Speaking at an intimate gathering of supporters at VPR Convention Centre in Kanuparthipadu, the MP said he was pained by Jagan Mohan Reddy’s “unnecessary and baseless” comments on the issue. Recalling the incident, he revealed that senior YSRCP leader YV Subba Reddy had approached him earlier saying Appanna was a poor man with no means of support and that he (Subba Reddy) was unable to help.

The MP stated bluntly that he helped Appanna the same way he helped others today. He emphasized that he continues to help numerous people in need every month. “If you take the list of people I assist in a single month, there will be many names. Even today, whoever comes to me saying they are in distress, I help them,” he added.
