The newly inaugurated robotics and AI based stroke rehabilitation facility in Hyderabad has taken a solid step forward with the installation of a domestically developed gait-trainer robot. On 29 October 2025, coinciding with World Stroke Day, the HealthCare at HOME (HCAH)-backed center, dubbed the Center for Advanced Robotics and Recovery, opened its doors in the city. In the days since, the most notable update is the deployment of the Indian-designed robotic gait system called the G Gaiter marking its first installation in Hyderabad.
India currently has just 1,251 dedicated stroke-rehabilitation centers for a population of 1.46 billion approximately one such facility for every 1.17 million people. HCAH’s expansion plan becomes especially resounding after Hyderabad, intending to push its “Robotics & Recovery Labs” into Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata as well.
At the Hyderabad center, patients will find an integrated suite of technologies: robotic gait-training systems, robotic arm and hand rehabilitation units, neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), gamified balance boards, and virtual-reality (VR) neurotherapy. These systems are made to work together in helping patients walk, move, speak and balance again. According to the HCAH’s communications, the G Gaiter system is enabled to a patient to perform up to 1,000 guided steps in a 30-minute session. This is by using exoskeleton-assisted gait training, reproducing natural walking with full support where needed.
