State-owned power major NTPC’s renewable arm, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, will commence commercial electricity supply of 130.47 MW from its Khavda-I Solar Power Project in Gujarat from midnight of January 29, 2026, according to a regulatory filing.

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, which spearheads the group’s renewable energy expansion. The newly operational capacity represents the tenth tranche of the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche-III.

With the declaration of commercial operation for this 130.47 MW capacity, the total operational renewable capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Group has risen significantly. Prior to this addition, the group’s commercial renewable capacity stood at 8,347.78 MW. Following the commissioning of the latest tranche, the overall installed capacity of the group has increased to 8,478.25 MW.

The Khavda solar project is one of NTPC’s flagship renewable initiatives and forms a key part of India’s broader clean energy push. The phased commissioning of the project underscores NTPC Green Energy’s focus on steadily expanding its solar portfolio while supporting national targets for renewable energy generation and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
