‘Nuziveedu market to be developed with Rs 30 cr’

State Housing and Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said on Monday that the Nuziveedu market yard will be developed at a cost of Rs 30 crore to add more image to Nuziveedu mangoes and also to  improve transport facilities.

Minister Parthasarathy said Nuziveedu mango has a special recognition at the national and international level, but in the recent past, farmers have been suffering financially due to non-availability of quality mango yield. He said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is giving utmost priority to the development of agriculture and allied sectors and is providing subsidised schemes for the welfare of farmers. 

The Minister said the insurance scheme for mango crop, which was ignored by the previous government, would be implemented soon. The Minister also called upon the farmers to work towards producing quality mango crop to further enhance the image of Nuziveedu mango. He said that  various infrastructure facilities are being set up in the market yard at a cost of Rs 30 crore for the convenience of mango farmers.

“For the economic development of mango farmers, better transport facilities for the crop will be provided to the farmers and air cargo services required for export of quality mangoes to foreign countries will also be made available to the farmers.There should be research so that the mango farmers can get the benefits” the minister said, adding that the government has introduced insurance for the mango farmers to meet the hardships of the mango farmers. 

He also informed that  the government is providing subsidy for drip irrigation and urged the mango farmers to take advantage of it. He also said that the covers for mangoes will be provided at 60 per cent subsidy. The minister said he would talk to the government and set up air cargo soon, adding that cold storage would be set up next year.
