Boppana Sarath Gopal Foundation, in Association with Vignana Jyothi Group, Organised Mega Blood Donation Drive and Free Eye Screening Camp at VNR VJIET

742 Blood Donors Contribute 742 Units of Blood in a Single Day; 

Over 4,000 Students and Faculty Undergo Eye Screening

Hyderabad, September 24, 2026: The Boppana Sarath Gopal Foundation, in association with the Vignana Jyothi Group and Vallurupalli Nageswara Rao Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VNR VJIET), successfully organised a Mega Blood Donation Drive and Free Eye Screening Camp, receiving an overwhelming response from students, faculty, staff and the wider VNR VJIET community.

The four-day initiative was organised with the objective of promoting voluntary blood donation, preventive healthcare and regular eye care, while encouraging young students to actively contribute to socially meaningful causes and community well-being.

742 Units of Blood Collected in a Single Day

The Mega Blood Donation Drive, conducted in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, witnessed an inspiring response from the VNR VJIET community, with 742 proud blood donors contributing 742 units of blood in a single day.

The noble initiative was graced by prominent Telugu film actor Shri Allari Naresh Garu, who visited the VNR VJIET campus and interacted with students and faculty. He encouraged the college community to actively participate in blood donation and highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and preventive healthcare.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Boppana Tarachand Garu, Director, Boppana Sarath Gopal Foundation, highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and appreciated the students for setting an inspiring example through their enthusiastic participation.

“Blood donation is a noble act through which each of us can make a meaningful difference and help save lives. It is particularly encouraging to see the students of VNR VJIET come forward in such large numbers. The contribution of 742 units of blood is a remarkable reflection of their social responsibility and commitment to the community. I sincerely appreciate every donor who stepped forward for this noble cause.”

Over 4,000 Eye Screenings Conducted

The Free Eye Screening Camp, conducted in association with Sankara Eye Hospital, Hyderabad, was held over four days and witnessed more than 4,000 eye screenings among students and faculty.

The camp focused on creating awareness about the importance of regular eye examinations and early identification of vision-related concerns. With students and faculty spending considerable time reading, studying, teaching and working on digital devices, the initiative emphasised the importance of maintaining good eye health and seeking timely medical guidance whenever required.

Speaking about the importance of eye care, Shri Boppana Tarachand Garu said:

“Good vision is an important part of a bright future. Students and faculty spend long hours studying, teaching and working on digital devices, making regular eye examinations increasingly important. Early screening can help identify vision-related concerns and ensure timely medical guidance and care. Crossing 4,000 eye screenings in four days reflects the importance the VNR VJIET community has placed on preventive eye care.”

Promoting Health and Social Responsibility

The four-day initiative brought together students, faculty, staff, healthcare professionals and volunteers, creating greater awareness about community healthcare, preventive health practices and individual well-being.
