A major infrastructure upgrade is set to ease traffic in Hyderabad’s IT corridor as a new multi-level flyover connecting the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Kondapur, specifically Shilpa Layout Phase 2, nears completion. Scheduled to be inaugurated in the first week of June by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the flyover promises significant relief to commuters navigating the congested Gachibowli Junction.
Built under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) at a cost of Rs 178 crore, the flyover stretches 1.2 km in length and 24 meters in width, featuring six lanes. What sets it apart is its unique three-tiered structure—constructed above the existing Gachibowli Junction and Shilpa Layout Phase 1 flyovers—making it one of the most complex and innovative road projects in the city.
The flyover is expected to streamline traffic from the ORR towards Kondapur and Hafeezpet, while enhancing connectivity to commercial hubs like Hitech City and the Financial District. Commuters heading to Shamshabad Airport will also benefit from a smoother and faster journey, bypassing traffic snarls at Gachibowli.
GHMC officials have expedited the final stages of construction under the supervision of Commissioner R.V. Karnan, aiming for timely completion. This will be the 23rd flyover completed under the SRDP, which has already delivered 37 out of the planned 42 projects. Meanwhile, the government’s new “H City” urban development initiative has earmarked Rs 7,032 crore for 58 new projects.
