Pahadishareef Police bust PDS rice smuggling

Pahadishareef Police seized 8 quintals (800 kg) of PDS rice along with an Ashok Leyland trolley auto bearing No. TS13UB6510 during a vehicle check near Jama Masjid, Pahadishareef on Saturday. The seized stock consisted of 16 bags, each weighing 50 kg, being illegally transported.

The driver of the vehicle, Ram Jeevan Sani (52), was arrested on the spot by the police. During interrogation, he revealed that he was acting on the instructions of Wajid @ Fayaz, who allegedly collected PDS rice from ration card holders at low prices and resold it in the black market for profit.

A case has been registered in Cr. No. 188/2026 under relevant sections of BNS and the Essential Commodities Act. Both the seized rice and vehicle were taken under panchanama. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other persons involved in the illegal diversion network.
