Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi and urged him to accord priority to the development of Pithapuram railway station and related infrastructure works.During the meeting, held as part of his Delhi visit, the Deputy Chief Minister discussed the upgradation of Pithapuram railway station and the construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB), along with several pending railway projects in the state.
Pawan Kalyan requested that the Road Over Bridge sanctioned under the Setu Bandhan scheme be brought under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. He stated that inclusion under the scheme would help accelerate the removal of level crossings, improve traffic management and align the project with the National Rail Plan-2030.
Highlighting the spiritual significance of Pithapuram, the Deputy Chief Minister appealed for the railway station to be developed as a model station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He noted that the town is home to the Ashtadasa Shakti Peetham and the sacred shrine of Sri Pada Sri Vallabha Swamy, attracting devotees from across the country.
Emphasising the steady inflow of pilgrims from distant regions, Pawan Kalyan stressed the need for improved passenger amenities and modern infrastructure at the station to ensure safe and comfortable travel for visitors. The Deputy Chief Minister also raised concerns regarding several railway projects pending in Andhra Pradesh and sought the Centre’s support for their early clearance and execution.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw responded positively to the proposals, assuring due consideration to the requests placed before him. Pawan Kalyan expressed gratitude to the Railway Minister for his constructive response and continued support towards strengthening railway infrastructure in the state.
