Fulfilling a personal commitment beyond political responsibility, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday visited Ippatam village in the Mangalagiri constituency to fulfil a promise made earlier to an elderly resident, Indla Nageswaramma.

Pawan Kalyan visited Nageswaramma’s residence, enquired about her health and family welfare, and reassured her of continued support. Recalling his earlier assurance, the Deputy Chief Minister said he had postponed official engagements to keep his word. “I have come as your son to see you,” he told the elderly woman, interacting warmly with her and her family members.

Nageswaramma had come into the public spotlight during the previous government’s tenure when she stood up against the demolition of houses in Ippatam village, following villagers’ support to the Jana Sena Party formation meeting. At the time, she had publicly asserted that she would not be intimidated, expressing faith that Pawan Kalyan would stand by the villagers.

As part of his visit, the Deputy Chief Minister presented a saree to Nageswaramma as a Sankranti gift and provided Rs. 50,000 towards household expenses. He also announced a monthly assistance of Rs. 5,000 from his own salary for her sustenance.

In addition, Pawan Kalyan extended Rs. 1 lakh towards the education of her differently-abled grandson, Manoj Sai. Upon learning that her son, Kondayya, is undergoing cancer treatment, the Deputy Chief Minister sanctioned Rs. 3 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support medical expenses. He urged the family to prioritise health and assured them of continued assistance.

News of Pawan Kalyan’s visit drew large crowds from Ippatam and neighbouring Kolanukonda village. Residents lined the roads, showering flowers and performing aarti as he passed through. During his return journey, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted extensively with locals, including flower farm workers, enquiring about their daily work and earnings.

Responding to local grievances, he directed officials to install an electricity pole near the residence of a woman named Nirmala in Kolanukonda village and instructed his office staff to address pending pension-related requests raised by villagers.
