The Khairatabad Police, along with the DCP Central Zone team, busted an illegal Public Distribution System (PDS) rice racket on Wednesday afternoon. During a special drive conducted around 1:30 p.m., police apprehended a man identified as Md. Azar (24), a resident of BJR Nagar, while he was transporting PDS rice on his two-wheeler (TS09FV3081). Azar had reportedly procured the rice from PDS beneficiaries and was taking it to his associate Abdul Rahman’s house in BJR Nagar.

Acting on credible information, the police intercepted him while he was unloading the rice at Rahman’s residence. Upon inspection, 27 plastic bags containing about 1,000 kg (10 quintals) of illegally stored PDS rice were found inside the house. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
