On the eve of International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day, the National Training Project in Practical Pediatric Oncology (NTP‑PPO) workshop was hosted today at the Basavatarakam Indo‑American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute (BIACH&RI), Hyderabad, in collaboration with IAP PHO, IAP PATS, and IAP TCB.
Initiated and led by Dr. Veerendra Patil, In‑charge of the Pediatric Oncology team, along with his dedicated colleagues, the workshop was designed to provide clinicians with practical, case‑based training to strengthen childhood cancer care.
The inauguration was graced by Dr. K. Krishnaiah (CEO, BIACH&RI), Dr. Senthil J. Rajappa (Chief & HOD, Medical Oncology), Dr. Veerendra Patil (Organizing Secretary & In‑charge, Pediatric Oncology Team), Dr. Kalpana Raghunath (Associate Director – Academics, BIACH&RI) and Dr. K. Phani Koteswara Rao (Medical Superintendent, BIACH&RI).
Dr. K. Krishnaiah described the workshop as a step towards building stronger pediatric oncology practices in India.
Dr. Senthil J. Rajappa observed that by focusing on hands‑on training, doctors are being prepared to respond effectively to the complex challenges of pediatric oncology.
Dr. Veerendra Patil emphasized the aim was to create a platform where pediatricians and oncologists could learn practical skills that directly impact patient care.
The workshop distinguished itself through its interactive format, multidisciplinary participation, and emphasis on skill‑building, making it a landmark effort in advancing pediatric oncology education.
