7 pilgrims returning from Prayagraj killed in road accident

In a tragic incident, seven pilgrims from Telangana returning from Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj were killed and two others injured when a mini traveller bus collided head-on with a truck carrying cement in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday morning.

Accident was occurred near the canal between Mohla and Bargi villages under Sihora Police station limits in Jabalpur district. A truck, which was traveling from Jabalpur towards Katni, collided head-on with a mini traveler bus coming from Katni towards Jabalpur. The truck was heading on a highway from the wrong side, leading to the accident, eyewitnesses claimed.  

As a result, the mini traveler bus got caught between the truck and the canal. There were a total of nine male passengers in the traveler. Seven of them died on the spot, while two sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to Medical College, Jabalpur for treatment. 

According to the Jabalpur district collector information, the deceased were identified as Anand Kansari, Shashi Kansari, Ravi Kumar, T V Prasad, Mallareddy, Balakrishna Shriram and Raju. While Naveenacharya (51) and V Santosh (47), were shifted to Government Medical College in Jabalpur where they are undergoing treatment. Eight people are from Medchal-Malkajgiri district and one from Rangareddy district, said sources.

The Jabalpur Rural police have booked a case and initiated investigation. The truck driver has also been taken into custody for questioning and the Madhya Pradesh authorities are in the process of making arrangements to shift the bodies to Hyderabad for final rites.

Telangana CM and Union Minister expresses deep shock over road accident Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over the Jabalpur road accident which claimed lives of people from Hyderabad. He directed the officials to make arrangements to provide better medical treatment to the injured and also take required relief measures.

G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines and President of BJP Telangana State, also expressed shock over the death of seven people from Telangana in a road accident near Jabalpur. The Union Minister suggested that the families of the deceased should be provided with all necessary assistance and cooperation and that the two injured should be given proper treatment.

He also spoke to the Collectors of Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts and ordered them to provide necessary assistance to the respective families. The Union Minister also visited the victim's family members on phone. Expressed regret over the accident.
