In a swift operation, the Afzalgunj police rescued a 2-year-old kidnapped boy within 48 hours and arrested three individuals involved in the abduction. The accused, Shaik Amer, Majida Begum, and Mohammedi Begum, had planned to sell the child or force him into begging. Another suspect, Md. Abdul Salman, is currently absconding.
The incident occurred on February 16, when Bandela Devi (25) filed a complaint stating that her son, Prem Kumar, had been kidnapped while she was asleep in an intoxicated state on the footpaths of CBS, Gowliguda, Hyderabad. Devi, who had recently arrived in Hyderabad in search of work, had also lost contact with her cousin.
Police reviewed over 100 CCTV footage and identified a middle-aged man abducting the boy and escaping in an auto (TS.10 UC.7279). Special teams tracked the vehicle and located the boy on February 18 at one of the accused’s residences.
The arrested suspects confessed to the crime, admitting that they saw the child crying beside his intoxicated mother and kidnapped him with the intention of selling him or using him for begging. The boy has been safely reunited with his mother, and efforts are ongoing to track down the absconding accused.
