Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) must operate with complete transparency, efficiency and accountability, said Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Public Undertakings Committee Chairman Koona Ravi Kumar.

During a review meeting held at the Guntur District Collectorate on Tuesday, the Committee examined the functioning of the AP Forest Development Corporation, AP Medical Services & Infrastructure Development Corporation, AP Aviation Corporation and AP Airports Development Corporation. The Chairman stressed that every PSU receiving government funds must maintain proper records, statistics and financial audits. He directed all corporations to submit annual activity and audit reports on time and warned that delays would invite disciplinary action.

Koona Ravi Kumar noted that the Committee was reviewing the performance of 182 PSUs across the state, of which 30 have been examined so far. He questioned the AP Forest Development Corporation for failing to submit annual reports for eight years and instructed officials to prepare an action plan to strengthen forest development and explore eco-tourism projects under PPP mode. Similarly, he directed the AP Airports Development Corporation to clear pending audits from the last six years before the Budget Session.

The Committee expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of chairpersons of the AP Police Housing Corporation and AP Dairy Development Corporation. Officials from various corporations briefed the Committee on their progress, including major infrastructure and airport development works across the state.
