Quality of rice to be increased in FCI

TDP MP and Food Corporation of India (FCI) AP Committee Chairman Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu  said on Saturday that the Food Corporation of India has decided to increase the quality of rice coming to the FCI godowns and also increase their storage capacity further. Speaking at a meeting of the state-level consultative committee held jointly by the FCI and Civil Supplies Department of Andhra Pradesh in Vijayawada, he said that FCI has been working with the Civil Supplies for AP since 2017..The meeting was attended by Lavu Sri Krishnadevaraya and several other senior officials. 

The MP also said that most of the procurement and distribution in AP is done by the civil supplies department and that the FCI is taking the extra quota and moving it to other areas. The General Manager and other senior officials of FCI discussed various issues in the meeting today. According to the share given to AP, estimates have been made on how much to be procured and how much should be sent out, said Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu. The MP further mentioned that there is a possibility of taking 25 lakh metric tonnes of rice from FCI and the AP Civil Supplies Department will take only 10 lakh metric tonnes.
