In a remarkable medical achievement, a rare and highly complex brachial plexus reconstructive surgery was successfully performed at Kelvin Hospital, Karimnagar on Friday, bringing advanced neuro-plastic surgical care to the district for the first time.
The patient, Narasimhulu, a resident of Boppapur village, Sircilla district, had met with an accident which severely damaged the neck nerves, resulting in complete loss of function in his right arm. This condition is medically known as a Brachial Plexus Injury and is typically treated only at premier institutes like NIMS, Hyderabad.
In a landmark development, this rare surgery was made available locally in Karimnagar under the leadership of Dr. Ashok Reddy (Plastic Surgeon). The surgical team included Dr. Ram Prabhu, Dr. Suresh Kumar Chinta, Dr. Trivikram and other expert medical professionals.
The team worked for nearly 8 hours to perform the delicate and technically demanding procedure, successfully.
