Calling it an unforgettable day, Mahabubnagar MLA  Yennam Srinivas Reddy said on Saturday that it is a reality that Palamuru district did not receive development benefits to the expected level even after the formation of Telangana, for which people had struggled so hard. He expressed this anguish while presiding over a public meeting addressed by Chief Minister  Revanth Reddy at the MVS Degree College Grounds.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said Palamuru is a region without abundant natural resources, lacking rivers, forests, or mineral wealth. The only divine blessings bestowed upon the region, he said, are the grace of Saraswati (education) and the waters of the Krishna River. He alleged that the previous BRS government mortgaged Krishna river waters to Andhra Pradesh, betrayed Palamuru farmers, cheated the people by not constructing projects, and completely weakened the education system.

Expressing concern, he said that in the last ten years, Palamuru did not get a single college, university, or any notable higher educational institution. The long-cherished dream of Palamuru intellectuals was a Triple IT, and the credit for fulfilling that dream goes entirely to the Chief Minister.

He recalled that the Chief Minister, without even a moment’s hesitation, granted permission for the Triple IT in Palamuru and assured that he himself would attend the foundation stone ceremony, which reflects his affection and commitment toward Palamuru.

The MLA noted that the lack of underground drainage had long been a curse for Mahabubnagar town. He expressed happiness that solutions are now being implemented, including Rs 603 crore for underground drainage works, Rs 220 crore for a permanent drinking water solution, Rs 200 crore for the construction of an integrated residential school, Rs 40 crore for a nursing college, and Rs 20 crore for the construction of MVS Degree College, all of which were inaugurated on the same day. With the goal of developing Mahabubnagar into a major metropolitan city after Hyderabad and Warangal, the government is undertaking development works worth hundreds of crores, he remarked.

Marking 60 years of MVS Degree College and 75 years of Mahabubnagar Municipality, the MLA said it is the district’s fortune that development works worth Rs 1,400 crore are being launched at this juncture.

He described the joint discussion on district development by Honorable Mahabubnagar MP  DK Aruna and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy as a rare and historic occasion.

Emphasizing that development, not politics, is the priority, he said they are working together like members of one family, made possible only because of the people of Palamuru.

He added that while the Chief Minister has already transformed Palamuru into an educational hub, efforts are underway, with the support of Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha to develop it into a medical hub as well. He also urged people to express gratitude for the efforts being made to establish an inter-state terminal.
