Respect the High Court: KTR mounts fresh attack on HYDRAA

BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao launched a sharp attack on the Congress government over the functioning of HYDRAA, alleging that it has become an instrument of political intimidation, selective demolitions and extortion instead of protecting public interests. Referring to the Telangana High Court's observations, KTR urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to respect the judiciary and democratic institutions, stating that a government that ignores judicial directions cannot claim to uphold the rule of law. Calling HYDRAA a "nine headed monster", he said the agency had become a tool for blackmail and political vendetta and asserted that a future BRS government would abolish it on its very first day.

KTR alleged that HYDRAA was targeting ordinary citizens while sparing influential politicians, builders and powerful individuals accused of encroachments. He questioned why structures belonging to politically connected persons had escaped action while homes of poor families were demolished despite court protection. He further accused the government of using HYDRAA to threaten builders, facilitate extortion and shield vested financial interests. He also alleged that every major initiative of the Congress government was surrounded by corruption and criticised the Chief Minister for repeatedly disregarding judicial directions.

BJP-Congress Nexus

KTR alleged that the BJP was acting as a silent political ally of the Congress government in Telangana by protecting the Chief Minister from corruption allegations. He maintained that the BRS would continue to oppose the government on issues affecting the people.

State Finances, Youth and Reforms

Defending the previous BRS government, KTR said it had responsibly managed inherited liabilities while significantly increasing the state's revenues and creating major public assets. On youth protests, he warned that growing frustration over education and employment could trigger larger movements if governments failed to address young people's aspirations. He also backed genuine examination reforms, sought accountability for repeated paper leaks and called for transparent implementation of expert committee recommendations. On delimitation, he stressed that southern states should not be penalised for successfully controlling population growth.

Seeks Central Support for Telangana

During his meeting with Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi, KTR sought the establishment of the Kazipet Railway Division, speedy completion of key railway projects including the Manoharabad to Kothapalli line, and Central support for strengthening Telangana's Tier Two IT ecosystem through AI, STPI and digital innovation centres. He said balanced regional development remained a priority for the BRS and urged the Centre to accelerate infrastructure and technology investments across Telangana.
