Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday accused the BJP-led Union government of orchestrating a conspiracy to delete votes in non-BJP ruled states through the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, warning that the ruling party at the Centre was attempting to secure victory in the next Telangana Assembly elections by systematically removing names of Congress supporters.Addressing a meeting of local Congress leaders and workers in the Kodangal Assembly Constituency, the Chief Minister charged that the BJP had employed similar methods to win elections in Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal by what he described as “vote theft.” 

He asserted that the same “deceitful tactics” were now being deployed in Telangana and declared that the Congress would not permit them to succeed.“The Centre has conspired to delete votes in non-BJP ruling states in the SIR,” Revanth Reddy told the gathering. He specifically alleged that the BJP was targeting Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and minority voters during the revision process. “Party workers will not tolerate any such attempt,” he stated.Revanth Reddy further claimed that the BJP had earlier used central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation to target political rivals. Having exhausted those avenues, he said, the national ruling party had now turned to the deletion of votes, often citing minor errors as a pretext. 

He strongly objected to this practice, arguing that it undermined the fundamental right to vote, particularly among the poor and marginalised sections of society.The Chief Minister also accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of colluding with the BJP in the alleged vote deletion exercise aimed at defeating the Congress. To safeguard the electoral rolls, Revanth Reddy issued clear directives to party functionaries. 

He ordered every important local leader to take personal responsibility for overseeing the SIR process in four villages each and to ensure that not a single eligible vote was deleted from any booth. Booth Level Agents (BLAs) were instructed to coordinate closely at the village level so that the votes of the poor were protected. Mandal-level leaders were similarly held accountable for preventing indiscriminate deletions.“The responsibility of safeguarding the right to vote lies with all Congress workers and leaders,” the Chief Minister emphasised. He stressed that every cadre must remain alert and actively thwart any attempts by the BJP and BRS to manipulate the voter lists. 

“Everyone must remain vigilant,” he said, underscoring the need for grassroots monitoring during the ongoing revision.Revanth Reddy used the occasion to express gratitude to the people of Kodangal. He noted that the constituency had gained national recognition and respect because of the consistent support extended by local residents to him and the Congress. The meeting, held in his home constituency, was attended by a large number of party leaders and workers who listened as the Chief Minister outlined the party’s strategy to counter the alleged threats to the electoral process.

The Chief Minister’s remarks come against the backdrop of the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls across the country. Opposition parties in several states have raised concerns about the manner in which names are being added or deleted, though the Commission maintains that the process is routine, transparent and aimed at purifying the rolls of ineligible or duplicate entries. 

The BJP has previously rejected similar allegations of systematic vote deletion, describing them as attempts by opposition parties to create confusion ahead of elections.In Telangana, the Congress government, which came to power in the December 2023 Assembly elections, has repeatedly accused the BJP and the previous BRS regime of trying to destabilise it through various means. Revanth Reddy’s latest intervention elevates the issue of electoral roll revision to a major political confrontation, framing it as an existential battle to protect the democratic rights of the state’s voters, particularly those from weaker sections.

As the SIR process continues, both the ruling Congress and the opposition parties will be closely watched for how they engage with the Election Commission’s procedures. The Chief Minister’s accusations have set the stage for intensified political sparring, with the integrity of the voter lists now firmly at the centre of the debate.

Tatas to build India’s largest AI data centre 

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) subsidiary HyperVault will develop a gigawatt-scale artificial intelligence data centre campus spread across more than 250 acres in Hyderabad, as a landmark investment in the State’s digital infrastructure.

The campus will have a capacity of up to 1,000 MW (1 GW) and is expected to support frontier AI companies, leading hyperscalers and global enterprises with high-density, liquid-cooled computing infrastructure. HyperVault and its partners are expected to invest up to Rs.70,000 crore in developing and managing the infrastructure.

The project is estimated to generate around 7,000 direct and indirect jobs, including white-collar and blue-collar employment. At full build-out, the campus is expected to rank among the largest and most advanced AI infrastructure facilities in India.

The facility will incorporate green-energy and water-neutral design principles. The project is also expected to stimulate the wider AI infrastructure ecosystem across power, cooling, networking, construction, engineering and operations.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy described the project as historic for both Telangana and India, saying it reinforced Hyderabad’s position at the forefront of the global AI revolution.

“This decade is one of Artificial Intelligence. Access to AI models and compute is fast becoming public infrastructure and having this compute reside in Telangana gives us an advantage,” he said. IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said the agreement was the result of discussions between Revanth Reddy and Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran in Davos in January 2026.

He said the project was conceptualised and advanced within a few months, with Telangana beating five competing States to secure the investment. TCS CEO K. Krithivasan said HyperVault would advance TCS’s “Infrastructure-to-Intelligence” strategy by combining AI-ready infrastructure with its cloud, engineering, enterprise transformation and AI capabilities. He said Hyderabad offered the scale, talent and ecosystem required to serve global customers.
