The Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to accelerate restoration and repair works across the state following the recent heavy rains and floods that damaged roads, buildings, tanks, ponds, and power infrastructure. 

Chairing a high-level review at the Secretariat on Monday evening, the CM instructed departments to submit a comprehensive damage assessment report within two days, covering agriculture, livestock, irrigation, R&B, Panchayat Raj, rural water supply, medical & health, and electricity.

Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will lead a delegation to Delhi on September 4 to present the report to Union Ministers. The CM ordered immediate release of compensation to bereaved families and livestock owners and sanctioned ₹10 crore each to severely affected districts as contingent relief, while moderately affected districts will get ₹5 crore.

The CM expressed displeasure over the underutilization of SDRF funds and warned officials against delays in relief measures. He called for the immediate reconstruction of inundated substations with advanced technology and reviewed street lighting, slaughterhouse regulation, and urban infrastructure works.

Officials reported that 257 tanks and ponds were breached, while crops in 2.36 lakh acres across 82 mandals suffered damage. The CM emphasised the revival of water users associations to strengthen minor irrigation and ordered Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy to prepare recommendations.

Praising the SDRF teams for rescuing 217 people in 42 operations, the CM stressed the need for enhanced training and disaster preparedness. He instructed Collectors and SPs to remain vigilant, act swiftly in emergencies, and oversee relief directly on the ground. With changing climate patterns likely to cause more unseasonal rains and floods, the CM underlined the need for proactive planning and efficient fund utilisation. The review meeting was attended by Ministers, senior officials, and top police and administrative officers.
