Revanth invites Rajnath to inaugurate Defence Expo-2026

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday invited Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to attend the Invest Telangana Global Summit-2026, being organised by the Telangana government at Bharat Future City from December 7 to 9.

The Chief Minister met Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and briefed him on the objectives of the global summit. He requested the Defence Minister to inaugurate Defence Expo-2026, which will be organised as part of the summit.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed investment prospects in Telangana's defence sector. Revanth Reddy said the Defence Expo would feature a special session on the aerospace, defence and space sectors, besides an air show, industrial exhibition and live demonstrations of land-based defence systems.

He highlighted the importance of Rajnath Singh's presence and guidance at the expo, which is expected to bring together defence industries, startups and young scientists from across the country to exchange ideas and experiences. The Chief Minister sought the Defence Ministry's cooperation in organising the Defence Expo-2026 in Hyderabad to international standards.

He particularly requested assistance in securing the necessary airspace clearances for the air show and facilitating the participation of Indian Air Force aircraft, the Surya Kiran and Sarang aerobatic teams, besides support for a static aircraft display.

Revanth Reddy also requested that state-of-the-art defence systems of the Army, Navy and Air Force be showcased at the expo and that senior officials and representatives of the three services participate in the event.

The arrangements for extensive participation by defence PSUs, including HAL, BEL, BDL and MDL, as well as DRDO laboratories, to showcase indigenous defence technologies at the summit were also discussed.

The Chief Minister sought the Defence Ministry's assistance in facilitating meetings with foreign defence representatives, bilateral defence delegations and prominent officials of international defence organisations.

On the proposed Adilabad Airport, Revanth Reddy informed Rajnath Singh that the State government had already acquired 750 acres and would acquire another 750 acres, as the Defence Ministry had sought a total of 1,500 acres for the airport.

He also said the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) had agreed to allocate 416.18 acres in Devarakadra mandal of Mahabubnagar district for a prestigious project proposed by the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL).

The land would be leased for 33 years at a nominal annual rent of ₹1 for the entire parcel, rather than on a per-acre basis. The provision to extend the lease agreement twice, if required, was also discussed, the Chief Minister said.

SHAKTI Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy, MPs M. Anil Kumar Yadav, Dr. Mallu Ravi, Suresh Shetkar, and Porika Balram Naik, along with State Government Advisor (Protocol) Harkara Venugopal were also present.
