Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended his heartfelt wishes to the officials, employees and staff of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and their family members on the occasion of the Board’s 37th Foundation Day on Sunday. In a statement, the Chief Minister appreciated the HMWSSB for providing safe drinking water to the people of Hyderabad and maintaining sewerage services over the past 37 years. He commended the Board for its significant contribution to the city’s development, public health and overall progress.
In view of Hyderabad’s rapid expansion, Revanth Reddy stressed the need to accord priority to water security and sustainable management of precious water resources. Against the backdrop of El Niño conditions, he called for proactive measures to conserve drinking water sources and minimise the use of potable water for non-domestic purposes. He described the launch of the ‘Dial Green Tanker – Green Tanker Operations’ initiative as a timely and important step towards sustainable water management.
The Chief Minister urged all government departments, industries, construction agencies and commercial establishments to make extensive use of treated wastewater for landscaping, construction activities and industrial requirements. Such measures would help conserve safe drinking water and ensure its availability for essential domestic needs, he said.
Calling upon the public and all stakeholders to make water conservation a collective responsibility, Revanth Reddy urged everyone to contribute towards building a sustainable and water-secure Hyderabad. He also expressed confidence that the HMWSSB would achieve further milestones in its journey of serving the people of the Core Urban Region (CURE).
