Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the Bengaluru–Hyderabad stretch as a Defence and Aerospace Corridor. Speaking at the inauguration of Safran’s new Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility for LEAP aircraft engines, Reddy said Telangana’s aerospace and defence exports have doubled in the past year, reaching over Rs30,000 crore in just nine months and surpassing pharma exports.
He noted that Telangana recently received the Aerospace Award from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and emphasised the state’s focus on skill development to attract global investments. Reddy invited industry leaders and the Prime Minister to the Telangana Rising 2047 Global Summit on December 8 and 9, where the state will outline its goal of becoming a $1-trillion economy by 2035. Later, leaders laid the foundation for an MRO unit for Rafale’s M88 engines at GMR Aero Park near Shamshabad.
