Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to implement a comprehensive action plan covering the entire agricultural cycle, from seed distribution to procurement of farm produce, with the objective of ensuring that farmers do not face difficulties at any stage.

Chairing a high level review meeting of the Agriculture Department at MCRHRD, the Chief Minister said the government must maintain complete data on farmers, crops, acreage, production estimates and procurement operations from the beginning of the cultivation season. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and D. Sridhar Babu, Rajya Sabha MP V. Narender Reddy and senior officials attended the meeting.

Based on experiences from previous procurement seasons and suggestions received from the Farmers Commission, Agriculture University and experts, the Chief Minister ordered the formation of a special committee of senior officials. Headed by the Agriculture Secretary, the committee will include the Agriculture Director, Civil Supplies Managing Director and Planning Department Secretary. The panel will monitor every stage, from seed distribution and crop registration to yield estimation and procurement, while adopting modern technology for field level supervision.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure accurate village level crop data and prepare advance plans for procurement, transportation, storage, marketing and handling of unexpected weather conditions. He also directed that seven varieties of fine paddy seeds be made available on subsidy through Rythu Vedikas to encourage cultivation of fine rice varieties eligible for government bonus.

Revanth Reddy said Rythu Vedikas should be transformed into farmer service centres where cultivators can register details and access seeds and fertilisers. Agriculture, Revenue and Police officials should be available at these centres, while Additional Collectors will oversee their management.

Emphasising technology driven agriculture, the Chief Minister called for greater use of Artificial Intelligence and directed that the Agriculture University be made the nodal agency for integrating technology across the agricultural ecosystem. He also ordered a study of the AI pilot project launched in Dammapeta of Bhadradri Kothagudem district for possible expansion.

To improve transparency in fertiliser distribution, the government plans to introduce an app based booking system for all fertilisers, with supplies distributed through Rythu Vedikas. The Chief Minister asked officials to continuously pursue the Centre for adequate fertiliser allocations and suggested that Ministers and MPs jointly approach the Union Government if necessary.

He also directed officials to reduce losses in Markfed, strengthen Oilfed and improve the performance of the state dairy sector while ensuring timely payments to dairy farmers.
