Rich tributes paid to PV Narasimha Rao on his 21st death anniversary

On the occasion of 21st death anniversary of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, the rich tributes were paid to the departed leader in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Council Members Vani Devi and Bogarapu Dayanand, Legislature Secretary Dr. V. Narasimha Charyulu, PV's family members and other officials paid floral tributes to the portrait of P.V. Narasimha Rao in the lobby hall of the Assembly building. The leaders praised PV Narasimha Rao as an architect of modern India and highlighted his economic reforms.

Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy said that PV Narasimha Rao rendered invaluable service to the country and  brought in many reforms as Prime Minister and led the country forward as an economist. He praised PV as a great intellectual and a polyglot. Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said, "P.V. Narasimha Rao was an efficient administrator of the world's largest democracy. He was a beloved son of Telangana who became the Prime Minister of the country. The  Speaker explained that P.V. has etched his name in history as an economist and a reformer. He stated that the reason the country is able to withstand economic challenges today is because of P.V. Prasad Kumar suggested that the  people should follow the path shown by him.

Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao paid rich tributes to PV Narasimha Rao on his 21st death anniversary. He described PV Narasimha Rao as “the builder of new India and Telangana’s beloved son” and emphasised that PV is a matter of pride for the entire nation. As Prime Minister, economist, politician, reformer, and a scholar, the services rendered by PV Narasimha Rao are eternally memorable,” KT Rama Rao said.

Congress denying due respect to PV, says BJP

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Tuesday accused the Congress of failing to accord due respect to former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, despite his pivotal role in steering India through landmark economic reforms.

After paying floral tributes at P.V. Ghat on Necklace Road on Rao’s death anniversary, Ramchander Rao said the former Prime Minister laid the foundation for India’s economic transformation. He recalled that then Opposition leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee had extended full support to the reforms in the national interest.

Alleging a family-centric approach in Congress party, the BJP leader questioned whether respect in the Congress was reserved only for members of the Gandhi family, citing the denial of a Delhi funeral for P.V. Narasimha Rao. The insult meted out to the former Prime Minister continued to hurt the nation’s sentiments, and accused the Congress of maintaining double standards even today, he said and noted that the Modi-led BJP government honoured Narasimha Rao’s contributions by conferring the Bharat Ratna.  At least now, the Congress party should stop using the 'Gandhi' name solely for political gain and learn to respect leaders who rose from the people and the great personalities who worked for the country. They must realize that leadership is not limited to a single family,

Several BJP leaders, including MLAs Venkata Ramana Reddy and Palvai Harish Babu, also paid tributes at the ghat.
