Rising water level in Srisailam welcomed by farmers

The water level Srisailam reservoir in Srisailam project of Nandyal district is steadily increasing which is being welcomed by the farmers of the region. According to officials 75,551 cusecs of flood water flowed into Srisailam reservoir on Friday. Of these, 49,903 cusecs of water from Jurala, 23,400 cusecs from the spillway and 2,248 cusecs from Sunkesula will reach Srisailam. So far, water has not been released for power generation. The water level in Srisailam reservoir is 885 feet and the present water level has reached 848.49 feet.

The water level capacity of Srisailam is 215.8070 TMCs and at present, the water storage in the dam is 76.3162 TMCs. Due to the rains in the upper areas, flood water is flowing into the reservoir as well as the Srisailam project day by day.  As many as 21,860 cusecs of water was released into the reservoir on Monday. The water level was 841.50 feet and the water capacity  64.0542 TMC. On Thursday, 37,385 cusecs of water entered the reservoir. The water level is 846.20 feet and the water capacity has reached 72.3450 TMC. On Friday also, there was heavy flood water in the reservoir.  The farmers of Rayalaseema region are happy that the water has entered the reservoir at the start of the Kharif crop season(May to October).
