Food safety officers of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) conducted surprise inspections on bakeries in the city on Friday.

About 90 bakeries have been inspected by the food safety officers. During the inspections, 80 surveillance samples were lifted and sent to the state food laboratory, Nacharam, Hyderabad for analysis purposes.

The Food Business Operators are being informed to maintain the hygiene standards in preparation of the food items, sale of food items and also the kitchen premises to be maintained properly. Proper labeling of the food items kept in the display counters shall be done.

On finding violation of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and Rules & Regulations, 2011 notices are being issued for rectification of defects and in case of any major violation, adjudication will be filed before the Adjudication Officers concerned.
