‘Rly development done with Rs 5,337 crore in Telangana’

Union Minister Kishan Reddy on Thursday said ‘In Telangana, railway development is being done with a total of Rs 5,337 crore.’

Minister spoke at Begumpet Railway Station on the occasion of the inauguration of Amrut Bharat Stations. He said ‘It was a matter of pride that the Begumpet Railway Station would be staffed by women employees and added that it was a matter of pride that this station was inaugurated on the 300th birth anniversary of Rajmata Ahilyabai.

He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the railway system across the country was developing rapidly. ‘1300 railway stations are being developed simultaneously in India, which is unprecedented in any other country in the world. 40 railway stations are also being developed simultaneously in Telangana. By 2026, these stations will be designed to reflect local culture and heritage. Secunderabad Railway Station in Secunderabad Parliamentary Constituency is being developed with Rs 720 crore. The Central Government has allocated Rs 350 crore for the development of Nampally (Hyderabad) Railway Station,’ Minister said.

He alleged that there was a delay of 6-7 years due to the negligence of the previous government for MMTS Phase-2 project and added that although the State government did not provide any support, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the construction work of MMTS Phase-2 was started at a cost of about Rs 1,000 crore.

Stating that MMTS has been sanctioned for Yadagirigutta, he said they would start work soon with Rs 400 crore. He revealed that the Centre had brought 'Kavach' technology for 617 km under a pilot project in Telangana to prevent railway accidents and added that they had removed 121 unmanned level crossings while noting that they have built 203 new road under bridges, 43 ROBs and 45 foot over bridges.
