AP CM asks officials to ensure crop cultivation as per demand

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed the officials of Agriculture department to ensure that the cultivation of crops in the state is done in accordance with the demand of the national and international markets. Farmers will be told in advance which crops should be cultivated in how much area so that there is a balance between demand and supply, he said. Ministers Gottipati Ravikumar and Ramanaidu have been inducted as members of the cabinet sub-committee about agriculture. 

Cocoa purchases by the government

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to ensure that cocoa purchases are made through companies for not less than Rs 500. Officials told the chief minister that at present, there are 1,200 metric tonnes to 1,500 metric tonnes of cocoa stocks and of them only 600 metric tonnes were to be procured.

Officials said a crop holiday for the HD Burle variety is being announced this year to ensure that farmers do not suffer due to lack of demand. On the other hand, the Chief Minister has already written to the Union Commerce Minister requesting him to include HD Burle and White Burle varieties in the Tobacco Board. 

Steps to increase the consumption of mango juice

When officials explained that there was no scope for new purchases by pulp companies as the old reserves were left with the companies, the CM said that the officials should ensure that banks give loans to pulp processing companies to solve this problem.

He also suggested that the TTD should look into the issues of providing mango juice to the devotees coming to Tirumala.Ministers Atchannaidu, Nadandla Manohar, Gottipati Ravi, Ramanaidu, Payyavula Keshav and others participated in the review meeting.
