The Telangana government has drawn up an ambitious Rs 347-crore master plan for the holistic development of the historic Jogulamba Devi Temple, the 5th Shakti Peeth, located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in Alampur. The proposal aims to transform the ancient shrine into a spiritually enriched and visitor-friendly pilgrimage destination equipped with modern amenities.

At a high-level review meeting held at the Secretariat on Friday, officials discussed the immediate steps required to begin the temple’s revitalisation. The meeting was attended by State Planning Board Vice Chairman Dr. G. Chinna Reddy, Principal Secretary (Endowments) Shailaja Ramayyer, Stapati Govinda Hari, and temple development architect Suryanarayana Murthy. It was decided that priority works—including Balaalayam construction, Vajra Lepanam, and Kumbhabhishekam—require an immediate allocation of Rs 35 crore.

Officials further resolved to hold a special meeting with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to finalise and fast-track the project. CM Revanth Reddy has emphasised that the temple should be developed with comprehensive facilities to enhance the experience of devotees and elevate the shrine’s prominence at the national level.

The Rs 347-crore development plan has been structured into three phases. Phase 1, estimated at Rs 138.40 crore, will initiate core infrastructural works, including sanctum restoration, queue systems, and primary amenities. Phase 2, proposed at Rs 117.60 crore, will focus on expanding pilgrim facilities, landscaping, and access improvements. Phase 3, costing Rs 91 crore, will complete the temple’s outer development, cultural spaces, and riverfront enhancement.
