14-12-2025 12:00:00 AM

Sai University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Ajith Abraham delivered a keynote address at the BRICS Business Forum held on November 20, 2025, at Sberbank Headquarters in Moscow, as part of the global AI Journey 2025 conference. The forum brought together senior leaders from industry, academia, government and civil society from BRICS nations and partner countries to discuss the future direction of artificial intelligence.

The session was chaired by Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank. In his address, Prof. Abraham described artificial intelligence as a shared global ecosystem that requires scientific cooperation, ethical governance and inclusive innovation, rather than being viewed merely as a technological tool.

He highlighted the strategic position of BRICS nations, which together account for a large share of the world’s population and an increasing proportion of global research and development. According to him, this collective strength places BRICS in a unique position to lead collaborative AI initiatives that can benefit society at large.

Prof. Abraham emphasised the need for cross-national AI research hubs and shared laboratories to enable collaboration among researchers across continents. He also called for talent mobility through researcher exchanges, joint doctoral and postdoctoral programmes and lifelong learning frameworks to ensure the free flow of AI expertise across borders.

Another key focus of the address was education reform and stronger industry-academia integration. Prof. Abraham stressed modern academic structures and micro-credentialing to equip students and professionals for real-world AI challenges.
