Andhra Pradesh Student Youth JAC and Telangana Student JAC have jointly demanded the establishment of a Supreme Court bench in South India, along with conducting two Parliament winter sessions in the southern region. The organisations also sought the abolition of the RBI’s CIBIL score system, the creation of Ambedkar National Cooperative Bank, and the setting up of a second capital for the country in the South.
Speaking at Press Club at Somajiguda on Monday, AP JAC State President Rayapati Jagadish said that despite South India having a population of 55 crore across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, no Supreme Court bench has been set up, causing deep dissatisfaction. He pointed out that several states, including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and northeastern states, already have multiple High Court benches. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address this long-standing injustice and ensure equal development.
Jagadish stressed that South India faces discrimination in both industrial growth and overall progress. He called upon MPs from the region to exert pressure on the Centre to establish a Supreme Court bench in Andhra Pradesh. The JAC also resolved to unite political parties, bar associations, and citizens to launch an agitation.
Telangana JAC President Amanagal Raju said they would extend full support to AP JAC in the fight for student issues and South India’s rights. Leaders Kommu Raju, Surya Sagar, Krishna, Benjamin, Easter, and Kommu Rajeev also attended, demanding the abolition of CIBIL scores, which they said were denying youth employment opportunities.
