The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) chairperson and members visited the ‘Bharosa’ center in Hyderabad on Tuesday, commending its work in supporting women and children affected by sexual abuse. The team reviewed the center’s operations, including the range of services offered to victims, and interacted directly with staff.

During the visit, officials examined the child-friendly court attached to the center and assessed the sensitive procedures followed for handling cases. WSW ACP Dr. P. Lavanya Nayak Jadhav presented a PowerPoint highlighting the center’s achievements, including securing 38 convictions under POCSO cases in 2025—one of the highest rates in the country. Challenges in case management and best practices were also discussed.

SCPCR chairperson Sita Dayakar Reddy lauded the center’s infrastructure, systematic approach, and counseling protocols, noting that Bharosa’s model is being considered for replication in other states. She assured continued support and said the commission would review the center’s performance annually.

Dr. Lavanya Nayak Jadhav said the visit boosted staff morale and reiterated their commitment to strengthening child protection. The visit included SCPCR members Aparna, Vandana, Chandana, Sarita, Premalatha Agarwal, Vachan Kumar, and DCP Srinivas.
