South Central Railway (SCR) celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with enthusiasm at the Rail Nilayam Auditorium in Secunderabad on Wednesday. Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager of SCR, attended the event as the chief guest. Satya Prakash, Madhavi, Siddharth Kati and other senior officials, department heads, staff and employees were present.

The programme featured cultural performances, including a skit and dance by students of the Railway Mixed High School, along with a Kuchipudi dance performed by a woman railway employee, which entertained the audience.

On the occasion, the General Manager presented awards to outstanding women employees from different departments for the year 2025–26. Prizes were also distributed to winners of elocution and essay-writing competitions.

Addressing the gathering, Srivastava said this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” highlights the importance of education as a key to empowerment. He explained the difference between equality and equity, stressing that while equality ensures equal rights and opportunities, equity provides necessary support to achieve fair outcomes.

SCR officials noted that about 8,000 women employees are working across the zone in key roles such as loco pilots, track maintainers and train managers, contributing significantly to railway operations.
