Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR), conducted a comprehensive safety review meeting today at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. The session focused on enhancing train safety and punctuality, particularly in view of the on-going monsoon season. Neeraj Agrawal, Additional General Manager, along with Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) from Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, and Nanded Divisions, participated in the meeting. The General Manager emphasized the strict implementation of safety protocols during the monsoon.
He instructed officials to intensify patrolling at vulnerable locations such as tracks, bridges, and areas prone to heavy rainfall. He also directed DRMs to ensure the reliable functioning of signalling systems to prevent operational disruptions. During the review, Arun Kumar Jain discussed a recent incident involving a vehicle entering the tracks at a level crossing between Shankarpally and Nagulapally stations. He called for enhanced safety measures at level crossings, urging staff to remain vigilant and report such incidents promptly to higher authorities. He instructed the officials to conduct awareness campaign on trespassing at the Level Crossings over the Zone.
The General Manager advised that the deployment of additional RPF and track patrolling personnel to monitor and deter miscreant activities. Thorough inspection of safety-related assets to ensure passenger security and adherence to standard operating procedures at all level crossing gates across the zone, he added. Shri Arun Kumar Jain reiterated the importance of proactive and coordinated efforts to maintain safe and uninterrupted train operations, especially during adverse weather conditions.
