The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) conducted surprise inspections of hotels and food establishments in the Secunderabad Zone on Friday, issuing notices to two establishments for serious hygiene violations.

The drive was carried out under the directions of the GHMC Commissioner and led by Secunderabad Zonal Commissioner Mangatayaru. The inspection team included Gazetted Food Inspector Laxmi Kanth, Food Safety Officers Swathi and Sahiti, along with officials from the Kavadiguda Circle, including the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Municipal Commissioner and Deputy Solid Waste Management teams.

Officials inspected Amantran Hotel and Banquets and Samosa Kharkhana located in Kavadiguda Circle. During the checks, the team found multiple violations, including poor sanitation, unhygienic kitchen conditions, improper maintenance of mandatory records, storage of expired food items and the use of unauthorised food colours.

Following the inspection, notices were issued to the managements of both establishments. GHMC officials stated that further action will be taken as per the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act after reviewing their responses.

The civic body reiterated that all hotels, restaurants and food businesses across Greater Hyderabad must strictly comply with prescribed hygiene and food safety norms. It warned that stringent legal action would be taken against any establishment found compromising public health through unsafe or unhygienic practices.
