The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has launched the 'Dial-a-Septic Tank' service in areas within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to streamline scientific management and cleaning of septic waste. This initiative, supported by the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), includes the deployment of 50 trained septic tank cleaning vehicle operators.
These operators have been equipped with safety gear and uniforms, and have undergone technical training to ensure hygienic and safe handling of waste. The service was officially flagged off at the ASCI campus by Director General Ramesh Kumar, Head-in-Charge Janardhan Reddy, HMWSSB MD Ashok Reddy, and ED Mayank Mittal.
The program targets 7 municipal corporations, 18 municipalities, and 18 villages within the ORR. The septic tankers will now deliver waste to designated sewage treatment plants (STPs) at Amberpet, Nallacheruvu, Nanakramguda, and Khajaguda, where 40 KLD co-treatment facilities are operational.
