Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand to arrive in Kashi on Tuesday

Jyotish Peethadhishwar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj will arrive in Kashi on Tuesday, September 29, after completing his Chaturmasya Vrata observance and religious vows at Sapad Laksheshwar Dham in Saladha village of Bemetara district, Chhattisgarh. The Shankaracharya will stay in Kashi through Navratri, during which several spiritual rituals and auspicious religious programmes are scheduled to be held.

Religious activities in Chhattisgarh

Pandey said the Shankaracharya has been associated with religious and social awareness activities in Chhattisgarh for several years. He said the Shankaracharya had earlier sent his Dandi sannyasi disciple, Jyotirmayanand Saraswati, to Saladha to undertake public awareness activities. 

He also said a temple dedicated to 125,000 Shiva lingams is being established at Saladha, which he described as one of the largest such temples in Asia. According to Pandey, the Shankaracharya's continued visits to Chhattisgarh have contributed to greater religious awareness among followers of Sanatan Dharma.

Visit to Madhya Pradesh

After completing his Chaturmasya observances, the Shankaracharya crossed the river boundary and arrived in Barheta in Madhya Pradesh, where devotees welcomed him with drums, traditional music and showers of flowers. He subsequently travelled to Paramhansi Ganga Ashram in Narsinghpur and participated in the death anniversary observance of former Dwarka and Jyotish Peethadhishwar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati Maharaj. The Shankaracharya is scheduled to travel to Kashi by road on Tuesday.
