His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj returned to Shri Vidya Math in Varanasi after attending the Prayag Magh Mela. The revered spiritual leader decided to leave the mela early, without taking the traditional Triveni bath, expressing concern over the disrespect faced by himself, fellow saints, children, and women. He also cited the rigid and unyielding attitude of the local administration as a cause of his decision to cut short his visit.

Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj is deeply committed to preserving the dignity of spiritual practices and ensuring that the sanctity of religious events is maintained. His departure from the mela has drawn attention across the region, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding the conduct and management of large public gatherings.

To address these issues and communicate directly with the public, the spiritual leader will hold a press conference tomorrow, January 30, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Shri Vidya Math in Varanasi. Members of both print and electronic media are invited to attend and cover the event, which is expected to shed light on his observations and guidance.
