The Women Safety wing of Malkajgiri Commissionerate organized the “Samskar Mega Counselling Programme” for 760 respondents apprehended by SHE Teams for crimes against women and children. The initiative focused on behavioural correction, legal awareness, and psychological counselling, particularly targeting youth and first-time offenders.

Addressing the participants, B. Sumathi, IPS, Commissioner of Police, emphasized that a progressive society demands dignity and safety for women. She noted that while SHE Teams strictly enforce the law, their primary objective is to offer offenders a chance to reform before facing severe legal action that could ruin their futures.

Data revealed that between January 1 and May 18, 2026, SHE Teams across Malkajgiri, Uppal, and LB Nagar Zones registered 61 FIRs and 236 petty cases. Out of the 760 apprehended individuals, 137 were minors and 384 were young adults under 24, underscoring an urgent need for youth sensitization. Additionally, SHE Teams have educated over 53,000 citizens across 406 institutions on safety laws.

During the event, Geetha Challa and her Manojagrithi team provided psychological guidance on emotional control, while legal experts outlined the severe consequences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act. Senior police officials, including DCPs Dr. B. Anuradha and T. Usha Rani, also attended the session alongside the respondents and their parents.
