Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharsan Reddy announced on Thursday that 54 lakh voters had been included in Telangana’s final electoral rolls following the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Notices were issued to 92 lakh people across the state, with 65 lakh responding to date.

Speaking to the media here, the CEO confirmed that the SIR process will run through November 5, with final rolls scheduled for publication on November 9. He firmly ruled out any further extension of the schedule, noting that the deadline for filing claims and objections remains October 7.

In a shift from previous procedures, election officials are prioritising direct document collection over formal hearings. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been instructed to conduct door-to-door visits to collect required documents rather than asking residents to gather at central locations. Family members can submit documentation on behalf of others, and voters who have migrated will be processed online by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) without requiring physical presence, he said.

In the Khairatabad Assembly constituency, where 80,000 notices were served, 40 per cent of recipients have already been integrated into the final roll, the CEO said.

Sudarshan Reddy also clarified that while some states with completed SIR processes are exempt from submitting a declaration alongside Form-6, the declaration remains mandatory in Telangana as revision works are still active.
