Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the high-profile phone-tapping case has issued notices to former Bharat Rashtra Samithi Rajya Sabha MP Joginapally Santosh Rao, directing him to appear for questioning on January 27 (Tuesday).
According to official sources, Santosh Rao has been summoned to appear before the SIT at 3:00 PM at the Jubilee Hills ACP Office in connection with the ongoing investigation into alleged illegal phone surveillance during the previous BRS government’s tenure.
The summons marks another significant development in the investigation, which has already seen the questioning of senior BRS leaders, including former minister T. Harish Rao and BRS Working President Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao.
The case pertains to allegations of unlawful surveillance, misuse of official machinery, and destruction of evidence. Investigators are probing offences under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, and the Information Technology Act.
Responding to the notice, Santosh Rao stated that he respects the law and will cooperate fully with the investigation by appearing before the SIT as directed.
