Smooth start for SSC exams; first language paper completed

The Telangana State SSC Public Examinations for 2026 commenced on Saturday across 2,676 designated centers, beginning with the first language paper.The examination, which lasted for three hours, started at 9:30 am and concluded at 12:30 pm. Candidates arriving early were admitted to the centers from 8:30 am. Echoing the previous year's policy, the School Education department has extended the entry window by five minutes, allowing students to enter until 9:35 am.

A total of 528,239 students, comprising 267,954 boys and 260,285 girls, are registered for these examinations, scheduled to run until April 16. To ensure the smooth administration of the exams and to deter any malpractices, 144 flying squads have been deployed. Students were prohibited from wearing their school uniforms to the examination venues to maintain anonymity. 

Apart from essential items such as hall tickets, exam pads, pens, pencils, scales, sharpeners, erasers, and geometric instruments, no electronic devices, including mobile phones, calculators, or smart watches, were permitted inside the centers. Facilities were established at the entrance gates to allow for the secure and complimentary safekeeping of personal belongings and electronic gadgets.
