Telangana Women’s Rugby League concludes at Gymkhana

Hyderabad: The Telangana Women’s Rugby League – Season 2 was conducted at the Gymkhana Football Ground on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The tournament featured 12 teams representing various districts and institutions across the state. The event was organized by Lions Athena under the leadership of its President Kamakshi Agarwal in association with the Rugby Association of Telangana led by its President Dr. Narendra Ram. 

Black Archers Rugby Club emerged as the champions of the Telangana Women’s Rugby League 2026. The team defeated Hyderabad 10-7 to lift the title, while Medchal secured the third place after defeating Jangaon 22-0. One of the standout performers was Banuthu Shirisha of Black Archers Rugby Club, who emerged as the top scorer with seven tries during the tournament. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Narendra Ram appreciated the initiative and emphasized that encouraging girls to participate in sports such as rugby helps build confidence, discipline, teamwork and leadership qualities.
