A powerful new Malayalam film titled Sootravaakyam is set for a worldwide release on July 11 through Zineverse Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd. The Telugu version will follow later this month under the same title.
Sootravaakyam presents a thought-provoking and socially conscious theme — turning police stations into part-time schools. The film challenges the fear-driven image of the police and explores how officers can become mentors to children during their free time. Why should police stations only serve criminals and victims?
Directed by debutant Ujiyan Jass Chirammal, the film is produced by Lavanya Devi Kandregula and Srikanth Kandregula of Cinema Bandi fame under the Cinema Bandi Productions banner. The cast includes Shine Tom Chacko, Vinci Aloysius, Deepak Parambol, Meenakshi Madhavi, Divya M. Nair, and producer Srikanth Kandrege in a key role.
With screenplay by Rejin S. Babu, cinematography by Sriram Chandrasekharan, music by Jean P. Johnson, and editing by Nithin K.T.R, the film brings a visionary narrative to Indian cinema.Inspired by real-life youth counseling programs held at Kerala’s Vidur Police Station during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sootravaakyam aims to uplift, inspire, and start a dialogue on rethinking the role of law enforcement. The film is releasing in 14 countries, making it a truly global story with universal appeal.
