AP Governor lauds Red Cross, presents awards in Annual Meeting

Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazeer said on Wednesday that he deeply appreciates the efforts made by the State and all District Branches of the Indian Red Cross Society in mobilizing resources and undertaking various activities in the areas of blood donation, first aid training, disaster management and special health camps. The Governor, who is also the President of Indian Red Cross Society, AP Branch participated in the Annual General Meeting of the Red Cross held at Thummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetram in Vijayawada.

He recalled the services provided by the Red Cross volunteers in providing relief to the victims during the recent floods to Godavari and Krishna rivers. The Governor called for initiatives like thalassemia blood transfusion centers to be expanded alongside Red Cross blood banks and also to reach out to the poor children suffering with thalassemia and sickle cell anemia, throughout the state, in a phased manner.

The Governor congratulated KVN Chakradhar, Managing Director, AP Genco, Dr. G. Lakshmisha District Collector, NTR District, Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar, District Collector, Srikakulam, and other awardees, who mobilized resources for the AP Red Cross through membership and general donations.

He also congratulated the district branches who received the awards in the program for their best performance in different parameters and wished that they continue to be a role model for other branches to emulate.  Earlier the Annual General Meeting of the Red Cross has approved the Annual Reports, and Audit Reports for the Years 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 and Budget Estimates for 2025-26.
