In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Maheshwaram Zone, in collaboration with Abdullapurmet Police, dismantled an interstate drug smuggling racket.

The operation intercepted a massive consignment of Ganja being transported from Malkangiri district in Odisha to Rajasthan via Hyderabad.

The arrested accused has been identified as Vikram Vishnoi alias Vikas (22), a resident of Haniya village in Rajasthan. Authorities seized approximately 1,210 kilograms of Ganja, a TATA Ultra truck, and a mobile phone, with the total value of the seized items estimated at Rs 6.25 crore.

Vikram, who was working as a truck driver, became involved in the illicit trade through known Ganja smugglers from his native region. The network includes Devilal (mediator), Aayub Khan (receiver of the contraband), and Ramlal (owner of a DCM vehicle and co-receiver of the Ganja), all hailing from Osian Tehsil, Jodhpur District, Rajasthan. The trio reportedly offered Vikram a payment of Rs 5 lakh per consignment to transport the Ganja from Odisha to Rajasthan. They also played key roles in maintaining a distribution network for supplying the contraband to agents across the state of Rajasthan. Authorities are continuing investigations to track down the remaining suspects and dismantle the broader network involved in the interstate drug trade.
