District Superintendent of Police Kothapalli Narasimha has urged farmers to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures against unseasonal rains. The SP visited Tekumatla village in Suryapet Rural mandal on Monday and interacted with farmers who were drying paddy in the open. Speaking to the farmers, Narasimha said that along with intense summer heat, there is a possibility of sudden thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds leading to unseasonal rainfall. He advised farmers to safeguard their hard-earned paddy crop from getting wet due to unexpected rains.
He further instructed farmers to keep gunny bags (pattalu) and tarpaulins readily available. The SP emphasized that farmers should promptly transport the dried paddy to markets or government procurement centers to avail the Minimum Support Price (MSP) before the quality deteriorates due to moisture. He also cautioned that drying paddy on roads poses a risk of accidents to motorists and should be avoided. The SP advised farmers to select good quality seed varieties to achieve better yields.
He encouraged them to adopt modern agricultural practices by following the guidance of agriculture department officials. He asked farmers to immediately report any information regarding fake or spurious seeds to the local police, Dial 100, or the Suryapet District Police Control Room at 8712686057.
