Chief Secretary K Vijayanand said on Thursday that a special officer would be appointed as in-charge to expedite the work of the Visakhapatnam Growth Hub and further requested Niti Aayog CEO Subrahmanyam to make a recommendation to the Niti Aayog in this regard. The Niti Aayog CEO held a meeting with Chief Secretary at the AP Secretariat to discuss the Purvodaya scheme (relating to the development of India’s eastern region) and the Visakhapatnam Growth Hub.
He also asked the Chief Secretary to prepare a report so that he can make a special presentation on the innovative schemes being taken up for the overall development of Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming Chief Secretaries' meeting. Purvodaya is an innovative scheme launched by the Central Government in five states-Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar on the Eastern coast of the country.
It is aimed at boosting regional connectivity and industrial development. Also, emphasis will be laid on strengthening Purvodaya Educational and Skill-Development institutions. Capacity expansion in IITs and other skill-training centres will also help in preparing a qualified workforce.
Purvodaya Scheme is going to play a crucial role in the journey of a Viksit Bharat i.e. Viksit Bharat by 2047 with ongoing investments in infrastructure, education and economic empowerment. The scheme is expected to improve infrastructure, job creation, skill development in agriculture and allied sectors like fisheries by supporting establishment of industrial corridors and encouraging investments.
