Sri Lanka’s Minister for Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, arrived in Hyderabad on Wednesday to participate in the International Buddhist Conference on World Peace–2026. He was welcomed at Hotel Kakatiya ITC by Mallepalli Laxmaiah, Special Officer of Buddhavanam, Buddhist scholar Shivanagireddy, and philanthropist K K Raja.
The conference, organised by Buddhavanam in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, will be held from March 26 to 29 across Hyderabad and Buddhavanam at Nagarjunasagar. The inaugural session is scheduled at 10 am on March 27 at The Plaza Hotel, Begumpet.
Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and Dr Senevi will attend as chief guests. Around 150 delegates from 22 countries, including Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and Argentina, are expected to participate.
Key speakers include Thich Nhat Tu and Prof Siddharth Singh, while the welcome address will be delivered by Mallepalli Laxmaiah. The event aims to promote global peace and position Buddhavanam as an international spiritual tourism hub.
